Kingston-upon-Thames

Kingston-upon-Thames is the place where seven of the early Anglo-Saxon kings were crowned including Ethelred the Unready, the father of Ednoth the Staller’s mother, Goda.  The Coronation Stone is on display here.  It was moved here after the church where the coronations were held was destroyed.  It was located nearby.  Ethelred was buried in old Saint Paul’s in London, which was destroyed by a fire along with everything in it.  There’s a memorial inside the new Saint Paul’s commemorating these early burials.  There are also other scenes around Kingston including a golden statue of Queen Anne.
